    Superkrauts' story:  The story of a mom trying to heal her son through the power of fermented foods. Meet our Founder Moni Schifler:

    Hi, my Name is Monika Schifler but my friends call me Moni!
    When my son was diagnosed with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) I did what every parent would do, try to move mountains to heal your kid.
    In my case, my family history (my Great Grandmother was a farmer and sauerkraut maker in Vienna, Austria ) and my skill set came together to actually move the mountain in front  of me, and I did exactly what I set out to do: First I healed my son, then I made it my mission to heal people through offering the most awesome, yummy fermented food to everyone.

    While I brought the knowledge of fermentation with me from Vienna to New York, and my kitchen was always full of yummy things fermenting in jars, I would have never guessed that it would be this skill, that would heal my son and then make a difference for so many people.

    My mission: Superkrauts

    • Make a sauerkraut that is authentic, 
    • only fermented in glass (It is our belief and at the core of Superkrauts philosophy to keep fermentation away from exposure to plastic),
    • a probiotic powerhouse, 
    • tastes awesome crunchy and yummy and
    • shows respect to the planet by using local produce and suppliers and create no trash. 100% of our kitchen scraps are composted - to date we have diverted over 5 tons of trash to local compost that goes back to our organic farmers.

       

    • All our krauts are 100% handcrafted - we create employment for local women, we are 100% women powered and run business. We use only the finest certified organic produce New York’s Hudson Valley has to offer, strengthening the locally owned farming communities year round.
